king salmon are really hard to catch. get 20 lb line and set the drag to 3. dont worry about the line tension. PAY ATTENTION TO THE LINE. if it starts to get a lot of slack quickly change the drag to 4 or 5. then when the line is tight again change it back to 3. i hope this info helps. good luck. :

If you are having trouble catching a king salmon first check to see if your line is on at 20 lbs. Then be sure that your lure is large enough. When the salmon starts coming to you closer than you can reel thrust your rod up. this should keep the meter in the green. Keep the rod tip pointed straight up until you can reel it in normally.

I can not find a catfish. I have tried almost every lure in almost every location. I just cant find one. Is there a speicial area that I dont know about. Should I use a certain lure.

To catch king salmon - Use the gold red chartreuse COUNTDOWN - no silver long cast minnow. 20 lb Test - 66 rod - Set the hook when the arrow is in the red. when they run point the rod tip at them to keep as little line out as possible - when they come to you bring the rod tip up - I hardly ever lose them this way. Yo to catch the 58lb King Salmon that i did fish near the waterfall with a LC minow Gold Chub and the 25lb tough line. It works all time

try using the 9'6" or longer rods in medium or MH on the kings...and point the tip at the whole time till they run at you, then lift up and swing around behind them..

i found the easiest way to catch king salmon is to make sure your always casting downstream that way when they run at you they wont swim as fast because there going against the current, set the drag to 4 or 5 and they wont throw the hook, when they run away from you just set the drag back to 2 or 3

what u have to do to catch the king salmon is when they are running down reel in at all just follow them with your rod then as soon as they start swimming towards you reel in. Keep doing that until they tire. it will work. I caught a 62.8 pound king.

To catch king salmon point the front of the boat into the bank next to the bear by the waterfall. this traps the fish to limited running room and sometimes they get traped next to the boat try this method works really good.

For muskies use the clown lure...biggest size of the countdown I think..they love the clown color. Good luck!

the best way to catch king salmon is with 25 lb. tough line with a jointed rapala (minnow color works best for me). Another thing that helps with landing the fish is using the longest rod available. This will help pick up some slack when hooking the fish. My biggest is 58lb, 11oz.

My best record for catching King Salmon to date has been 3 fish out of 4 bites:-
Rod:- Tournament 9\'6\"
Line:- 20lbs (didn\'t have 25lbs at that stage)
Lure:- Jointed Minnow
Sensitivity set at Fast.
Tips:- fish by the waterfall with your boat facing DOWNSTREAM as salmon rarely swim against the current. Head towards waterfall on the right side of river, circle around branches in the middle of river to face downstream (keep branches ahead of boat tip). I found this reduced the slack line significantly. Also when fish bite the bait start reeling but wait to strike ( pull back on rod) until the timer is in the red. That is when fish have got a real mouthful of the lure and tend to take longer to spit out the lure, thus giving you more time to adjust. Together with all other tips re: rod control & line drag it increases the success rate significantly and you\'ll be surprised how easy it really is

In mille lacs if you are having trouble catching Muskie use the Husky Jerk Silver Blue size HJ06, Muskie will take it every time. Biggest one was 38lbs 4oz, beautiful fish.
