In-game resetWhile playing a game, press Start + Select + A + B.
Play as Cream
Successfully complete the Leaf Forest level with Sonic to unlock Cream. Cream is extremely useful when facing Bosses because her Chao will attack it when you press B button. This makes it especially easy to defeat Bosses that are hard to hit, such as the fourth, sixth, and eighth.
Play as Tails
Successfully complete the Music Plant level with Sonic to unlock Tails.
Play as Knuckles
Successfully complete the Sky Canyon level with Sonic to unlock Knuckles.
Play as Amy
Successfully complete the game with all seven Chaos Emeralds as Cream, Knuckles, Sonic, and Tails to unlock Amy.
Tiny Chao Garden
Successfully complete the game with all seven Chaos Emeralds with any character to unlock Tiny Chao Garden.
Sound test
Successfully complete the game with all seven Chaos Emeralds with any two characters to unlock sound test. Note: For more sounds, successfully complete the Extra Zone with Sonic.
Boss option in time attack mode
Successfully complete the game with all seven Chaos Emeralds with any three characters to unlock the "Boss" option in time attack mode.
Bonus level
Successfully complete the game with all seven Chaos Emeralds with Amy, Cream, Knuckles, Sonic, and Tails to unlock a new level at the end of Sonic's map screen.
Speed boost
At the start of any non-Boss level, you can get an extra boost of speed out of the start gate. Quickly hold Right just before the counter says "START!". This may require a few attempts to get the correct timing. Also, use the following for a speed boost on Sky Canon. Choose any character that is fast. Select the Sky Canon Act 2 stage. Once you find a fan that blows you to get more speed, go back near the fan. Wait a few seconds and their speed will increase. After this process, turn around. This is useful with Tails because he starts by walking, then jogging, and finally flying.
Go higher and farther off a red ramp
When you get to a red ramp in the level 1, you can get farther and higher. When your about to jump on it, press A when about to jump. This only can be done on level 1.
Cheese gets rings
When playing as Cream the Rabbit, you can use Cheese (her Chao) for more than attacking enemies. You can also call Cheese to snag Special Rings.
Defeating Tails' final Boss
On the huge machine at the end of the final level, use Tails' propellers to hit his head. Note: You need to hit him with the propellers precisely.
Blurry/double characters
This glitch works for Knuckles, Tails, and Cream. Go to a Boss with one of those characters and fly or glide to the left side of the screen. They will be blurry and you will see doubles of them. Also, if you are Cream and she gets tired while flying, when Cheese tries to pull her up there will be two Cheeses.

I succesfully completed the game with Knuckles and Sonic and collected several chaos emeralds. Then a little girl deleted my file I dont really want to finish it again any hints on skipping levels or getting my file back. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

To get the special stage you need to collect 7 special rings and the go to the finish.
If you want to get to the special stage by collecting 7 SP Speical Rings in one act. Then when you cross the finish line your charicter will keep running then go into hyper-speed. You will then go to the special stage. Collect 300 rings there and win a chaos emerald. You can only get one emarald for each zone so dont get all SP rings in and one get the chaos emearld then get it in act 2. IT WONT WORK

i have beaten the game with sonic tails knuckles and cream but i dont know how to get the chaos emeralds. Ive tried getting all the special rings but i cant find all 7 the highest amount i got is 5. someone please help i dont have any emeralds.

The winter area is the best if you go to the 1st act because once you know where the sp rings are than you can get them without much trubble at all.
You can get shadow if you colect everyshing in the game
hey rocky if you want codes to get tiny chao garden. all you have to do is successfully complete the game with all 7 chaos emeralds with any character.
to get emralds u have to get the special rings and go to the end of the level and after u beat it u will go to special stage

Cheats:
While playing Press ABSTARTSELECT at the same time to restart the game. Turn it back on and you will have all the chaos emeralds with all the characters
To get super cream while plaing with cream press and hold B. Chao will start charging up and at the end of the stage Cheese will emit a blast of light and cream will start flashing. Now every time you play with creeam she will start flashing. this indicates invincibility.
To get sonics super attack go to any level except bosses and do sonics trick forward move. Keep holding R till the end of the stage. Now when you play as sonic his trick forward move will be a sort of tornado.
You get emeralds by collecting as many special rings the big ones as you can.When you play with super sonic have 7 chaos emeralds with sonic then play as sonic and go to the last stage there will be a new stage where you play as super sonic you defeat the boss by pressing a or b when youre close to a missile then the missile will go in the direction you went in and try to aim it at the boss.
to rocky you have to get 7 special rings in ech level in a row.
theres a cd that comes with the action replay theres a cord too. put the action replay ap into the gameboy put the cord into the ap and into the computer and put the cd in the computer. turn the gameboy advance on on the ap screen go to management. on the computer the disk should have loaded you can type in the game name and cheats will appear and you can load them manually or through the cord. WHY IS THE AP CALLED THE ACTION REPLAY

This game is a peice of CRAP! I can't get more than one chaos emerald, and that one is with Tails. If there's a GOOD cheat without a gameshark, etc. please post back.

i got 5 chaos emeralds but i can't find the seventh ring bonus on skycanyon or eggtopia
some people have trouble beating bosses. here are some tips to beat them as any character! 1st boss : run untill the hammer comes down and let go of the right button for a sec, then if the hammer misses keep running and jump at eggman then reapeat. 2nd boss: stay at the right of the screen then when eggman shoots at you jump and run at the turret and jump at it, when it explodes do the same thing but with the tank instead. 3rd boss: wait untill the top platform shoots out and jump on it then jump at eggman, then reapeat. 4rth boss: stay on the left of the screen untill the blue platform is level then jump on it and go at eggman, repeat, 5th boss: wait untill the hand attacks then jump at the lazer, then when the lazer is gone, aim at eggman. 6th boss: whenn the projectils shoot out jump then press down to dodge them, then find a platform and jump on eggman. 7th boss: press up to dodge the low missils and down to dodge the high ones, when eggman is directly above you press down then up to home in on him, then when you hit him press down to hit the floor, then reapeat. final: go between the rising platforms closest to the robot, then when the arms shoot at you jump on them, when to arms are gone, wait untill the platform closest to the robot rises then when it lowers jump on it then at the robots head, wait until it lowers so you dont hitt the cealing spikes. extra: dodge everything but the rings, you need the rings to stay alive. when missles shoot at you attack them at the robot to inflict damage. hope this helps!
Anyone have any level maps that show the location of the special rings? I've beaten the game numerous times, but I still haven't been able to enter ANY of the special stages! It's been years now, and I still haven't gotten any emeralds and that offends my completionist mind.
